As some of you know, the Råd og dåd has since 2005, been organized as a limited liability company (SMBA), in which employees and all others have the option to subscribe shares and thus become co-owners of the company.
Råd og dåd SMBA is controlled by a 7 person board. 3 of its members are external members and the other 4 are represented among employees.
The seven board members is elected at the Annual General Meeting in May, which also sets out the economy for the year that passed, future plans etc.(Look evt. Statues.)
The reason we made the Råd og dåd into a cooperative, was that Carl, who was head of Råd og dåd since the start in 1994 until spring 2008 and also the owner of the property, which we then hired from him, was approaching the age where he was going to prepare to retire. In this context, it would be beneficial to Råd og dåd to purchase the property from him. To borrow money from mortgage lenders, they demanded that we either could lay around. 200,000 kr.- to be paid at once, or that one or more would provide personal guarantees. The result was that after thorough investigations and after receiving many prior statements, we made a savings scheme where employees and others could buy shares to 1000 kr. - per piece. Over 1 to 2 years, we had saved up the approx. 200,000 kr.- and could bye the property in 2006-2007.
Another idea we had with the transition to cooperative, was that we had hoped that being a shareholder and have influence on his workplace would generate greater commitment among employees in general. An idea which one must say has succeeded.... Although it has cost some blood, sweat and tears along the way, I believe with pride that we can report that we currently have a workplace that exudes far away from commitment and job satisfaction, and which always flourishes......(-:
But to return to the beginning of this svada, so can you also become shareholders in Råd og dåd. We'd love to have more members, not because we need a lot of money, but more because we want to have a wider representation and new inputs into our everyday lives and on the board...
